OIC Students compete in British Biology Olympiad

14 OIC students take on 2019 British Biology Olympiad

Each year, the Royal Society of Biology sets the British Biology Olympiad competition.

The BBO challenges and stimulates students with an interest in biology to expand and extend their talents.  It enables students to demonstrate their knowledge and to be suitably rewarded with publicly recognised certificates and medals.  The BBO is open to students in post-16 education studying at school or college.  The competition consists of two, 45-minute multiple choice papers to be taken online under staff-supervised exam conditions.

In February 14 of our students invested a Wednesday evening in taking this competition test, and as a result we are proud of the recognition they gain for their biology studies.  Half of our entrants achieved medal positions, with 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals awarded to our students. Most of our entrants gained medals or highly commended certificates in an academically competitive field, and four of our students scored in the top 15% nationally.

Well done everyone!
