At the start of this month, Shazril Suhail, one of our highly ambitious AS students received the excellent news that his result in IGCSE Mathematics was the best in the world, and his result in Business Studies the best in Malaysia.
Shazril had previously been studying for his GCSE subjects in the Sri Kuala Lumpur International School in Malaysia and has been studying at Oxford International College since January for A-levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. He hopes to study Engineering in Cambridge after his time at OIC, and to specialise in Electrical Engineering. Over Easter, he has plans to gain a taste of life as an engineer by completing a work placement at Mini BMW, which we are sure he will enjoy.
However, as a multi-talented young man, Shazril has ambitions for the future reaching beyond engineering. He recently worked with OIC’s Academic Director, Kieran Hammond, to produce a proposal for his own start up business which he plans to run in his spare time whilst he is not busy studying. This was inspired by the difficulties that he found to be faced by students looking for work experience placements due to the lack of an organised system for applying. His plan is therefore to create an app similar to LinkedIn where students can search for employers and employers can identify suitable work experience candidates. Shazril has recently began the coding course which we now run at OIC and we hope this will help him when it comes to launching his business.
We couldn’t be more excited about Shazril’s plans and hopes for the future. Well done and good luck Shazril!
