Spotlight on: Matt White

Today we shine the spotlight on OIC Maths Tutor, Matt White

Here at Oxford International College we pride ourselves on enabling bright and ambitious students achieve their potential and go on to attend world class universities, both here in the UK and around the world. Our students are very much the stars, but behind their success is the hard work and dedication of a team of Tutors and Staff that help make realising their dreams possible.

Matt is a relatively new member of staff here at OIC, having joined the teaching faculty in August. A graduate of both Cambridge University, where he read Maths at undergraduate level, and Oxford University, where he completed his DPhil, Matt is no stranger to the intense competition faced by our students as they apply to prestigious universities.

In his spare time Matt likes to do competitive puzzles and sudoku. He ranked 9th and 10th respectively in this years UK championships for each. He is also a keen cross-country and road runner, running at varsity level whilst completing his studies at both Oxford and Cambridge and now runs for a local running club here in Oxford. He hopes to run this years Oxford Half Marathon this October.

Matt is also somewhat of a celebrity, having appeared on University challenge back in 2011, representing Queen College, Oxford. He will also be appearing later this year in Fifteen-to-one, so watch this space.

Matt tells me despite his affiliations both through study and now work he still cheers for his undergraduate university in the boat race. We quite like Matt here at OIC, so we won’t hold it against him!
