Oxford International College in China

Oxford International College are proud to have been at the forefront of developing international education in mainland China since 2008. To date we have established two new schools in partnership with British Education Ltd, a British run company and one of China's leading education and school management organisations. Further schools will open during the course of 2012 and beyond.

By pioneering a new and distinct approach to education in China, our schools aim to develop and increase students' confidence, academic and leadership skills, as well as widen their cultural experience by delivering a first class British education at GCSE and A-level, and offering foreign exchange opportunities. Our campuses offer excellent learning and sports facilities and a range of high quality, secure on-campus accommodation with an abundance of green spaces for recreation.

Like its UK equivalent, our schools in China specialise in teaching A-level qualifications. Each school has five A-level departments: Economics & Business, Maths & Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and ICT, as well as an English/EFL department offering IELTS and IGCSE qualifications. Most of our pupils are Chinese nationals seeking entry to UK, US and other English speaking universities. Our schools are registered as international examination centres for Edexcel.

A new campus is opening this year in Chengdu, located in modern, newly built facilities. With the full support of the Chengdu Education Authorities, Oxford International College will pioneer professional study courses at the Teacher Training Centre which is also situated within the campus. It is intended that these courses will be adopted by schools in other Chinese educational districts.

The building of another new campus is underway in Tianjin with the cooperation of Beijing Capital Land Company. The school is due to open in 2012 and the campus will offer excellent learning and sports facilities, a range of high quality, secure on-campus accommodation and provides an abundance of green spaces for recreation.

Chengdu City

Located in south-west China, Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province - home of the Giant Pandas. The city was built on the fertile Chengdu plain, 'Tian fu zhi guo' in Chinese, literally meaning 'the Land of Abundance'. Chengdu has many places of interest and is famous for its traditional arts and crafts, ethnic folklore, and beautiful landscapes. According to China Daily, it is the 4th most liveable city in China today and is one of the most important economic, transportation and communication hubs in West China.

Tianjin City

Referred to as ‘Jin’ for short and meaning ‘a port for the Emperor’, Tianjin is one of the four municipalities under direct administration of the central government of China. The city is well known for its historical and cultural heritage, striking European-style architecture, grand buildings and mansions, lively antiques markets and ancient temples. Popular destinations include the Tianjin Radio & TV Tower - the third tallest structure in the world – and the Great Wall of China at Huangya Pass. Today Tianjin is a vast modern city with an international port and is the economic centre for the north-east of China. The prosperity of Tianjin is closely linked to the nearby capital, Beijing.
