Dr Brewer gained his doctorate in Philosophy from Oriel College , Oxford . He was a Research Fellow at King's College, Cambridge , and has held visiting posts at Brown University , the University of Hamburg , and the University of California , Berkeley .

He has written numerous academic papers on various aspects of Philosophy. His books, Perception and Reason and Spatial Representation were published by Oxford University Press.
