Senior English Language Tutor

George was educated at Lincoln College, Oxford, and Cornell University, New York, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He has over 30 years' teaching experience, gained all over the world, including posts at the Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College in Brunei, where he was an Education Officer. He was a Lecturer at Basingstoke College of Technology, Redhill College of Further Education, and West London College in the UK. Since 2004 he has been a tutor on the summer pre-sessional course at the Oxford University Language Centre, preparing international postgraduate students for study at the university. He also teaches term-time courses at the University in pronunciation, spoken English and academic writing. In 2006 he delivered an English course to staff of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Warsaw.  In 2007 he taught a six-week course at Azad University (IR) in Oxford.  He was invited back, becoming Head of Department for a one year contract 2008-2009. Courses concentrated on IELTS but also provided cultural and extra-curricular activities to broaden and anchor the students’ learning experience. Military/diplomatic English teaching experience includes (1991-present): Italian Navy officers; Italian Air Force Air traffic control; liaising with ADC in Brunei while working as Personal Tutor in the Brunei Royal Household; EFL lecturing to Gurkhas; training Greek, Libyan, and Spanish government ministers; training Norwegian, Jordanian, Taiwanese and Japanese diplomats.
