After a decade of teaching and senior management in English schools, Trevor became the first Senior Research Officer and subsequently Director of the United Kingdom National Curriculum Development in 1970. From 1976 he also became Education Adviser to the Sheffield Education Authority, which included responsibilities for English language education (ESL) and multi-cultural education. During this period he was also Chief Examiner to three UK Examining Boards. In 1984 he was invited to join the British Government’s schools inspection team, as a member of Her Majesty’s Inspectorate (HMI), and subsequently Chief Education Adviser for the Barnsley Education Authority. In 1992 Trevor was appointed Senior Education Officer to the English Schools Foundation (the ESF), Asia’s largest international schools organisation. In 1999 he became Director of the Hong Kong Education Department’s ‘Primary Schools English Language Development’ Project which involved working with Cantonese and western English teachers in forty Government schools. In 2003 Trevor moved to Shanghai to establish the Xiehe Bilingual School before assuming his current role as Inspector/Adviser to the BridgeNet Global Education Consultancy (BGEC) which owns over 30 private schools in Shanghai. Trevor has written more than forty school textbooks, – his latest publication is a book on China, and numerous education articles in various publications throughout the world. |
