Holiday, Half Term and Summer School Programmes

Holiday Revision

Maintaining a good level of academic study during the school holidays is instrumental in helping students gain confidence and achieving the top grades in public exams.

We offer intensive revision courses for GCSE, IGCSE, AS, A2 and IB during the school holidays and half-term breaks through our partner organisation Oxford Science Studies..

The courses prepare students for public exams, deepen their understanding of any given subject, improve exam technique and give them a head start for the next school year. The Easter and Summer courses are one to three weeks long, and can be attended on a residential or non-residential basis. At Christmas, there are courses at the end of December and beginning of January, both of which can be attended on a residential basis. Half term courses can be attended on a single day basis, up to the length of the whole course, on a non-residential basis.

After students receive their exam results, they may feel it necessary to resit certain modules. The revision courses can help with this too. The A level courses are both exam board and module specific, meaning the revision is entirely relevant to the exam the student is preparing for. This is very important for all students, but crucial for students retaking specific exams, where they need to focus solely on the material for their particular module, rather than covering topics from alternative modules that they have already successfully passed the exam in.

Like our own lessons, the revision courses also follow the Oxbridge style of small group and one-to-one tuition. This allows the tutor to address individual requirements, and gives the students the chance to ask the questions they want to, helping them clarify any areas they find challenging.

The structure of the courses also takes into account of the importance of exam technique, which is another vital skill required for achieving the top grades. Students have exam practice sessions in between lessons, where they complete past exam papers, which can then be reviewed in the next lesson, highlighting areas for improvement.

On the Easter and Summer courses, study skill sessions are offered, which address general areas students often have difficulty with. This may include topics such as creating revision timetables, how to plan revision, how to write a good essay, the importance of using mark schemes and ways of reducing stress.

The summer vacation courses can give students an introduction to their next year of study. This is particularly useful if they are about to move on to the next level of study (e.g. starting A-levels) or embarking on a new subject (e.g. psychology). Students also attend to ensure they have a solid understanding of the previous year’s topics, and to gain a head start for the next academic year.

These are bespoke courses, meaning that students can pick the dates they would like to attend, and any combination of subjects/modules, and the course will then be set up specifically for them. This offers students the chance to revise the exact areas they want help with, making the most of the time they spend with us, and their revision time.
