Oxford Semester Programme

Experience the unique academic and cultural environment of historical Oxford, England - a study programme designed for International Students

This comprehensive programme combines traditional academic subjects with exciting options that are not normally available at school. Teaching is based upon the Tutorial System employed by Oxford and Cambridge, with tuition taking place on a one-to-one basis or in small mini groups (3-5 students).

Oxford International College is friendly, welcoming and provides a positive, focused learning environment. Our students are highly motivated and keen to learn. The College actively encourages students to have higher academic aspirations. Classes are designed to challenge the most able as well as providing support. We provide first class teaching with a clear focus on learning outcomes.

Every student is treated as an individual and, in our student-focused positive learning environment, talent and interest are encouraged and fostered. The tutors are graduates either of Oxford University or of other leading universities from across the world.

Course Overview

The Semester Programme has been especially designed with the needs of the American student in mind. A typical student might be seeking credits to complete High School, on a Gap Year or at College looking for a quality study abroad experience. Students usually enrol for one or two semesters. The programme includes:

• 12 hours of tuition per week
• Small class sizes
• A one-to-one weekly tutorial
• Personal mentor
• UK university application help and advice
• Cultural and social programme

Our tutors are very experienced in helping students with their applications including those to Oxford and Cambridge. The College has a strong record of success in this area and experience in helping those who apply for the more competitive courses such as medicine and dentistry. We also offer specialist Oxbridge interview and subject entry test preparation. Tuition is available in the preparation of the following; BMAT UKCAT, TSA, HAT, PAT, LNAT, ELAT, SAT, STEP and AEA.

Cultural and Social Activities:
Regular visits to places of cultural/historical interest and lively social activities form part of the programme. Excursions to London, Bath, Stratford and Warwick are planned, alongside other local attractions. Within Oxford the world famous Ashmolean and the Pitt Rivers Museum never fail to please. Trips are organised on a weekly basis. Access to the Oxford Union is included and students are encouraged to attend the debates.

Accommodation and Pastoral Care:
Oxford enjoys a wide selection of good quality accommodation. The Welfare Officer is available to assist students in securing their preferred choice. Many students enjoy the option of living with a British family where they typically have a single study bedroom and are provided with breakfast and an evening meal. Costs for this option are in the range of £165-£200 per week.

The College prides itself on its strong pastoral care. Should a student encounter any difficulties, our team is readily available to offer support.
