University Preparation
Careers Guidance
All students at Oxford International College receive expert careers counselling at the beginning and throughout their studies. For students applying to university, we offer individual guidance for selecting suitable courses and writing UCAS personal statements. Students are guided through the entire UCAS application process and prepared for interviews, as well as any special aptitude or entrance tests that may be required.
UCAS Personal Statement Writing & Applications
Oxford International College specialises in the university application procedure and in guiding students to write their personal statements. Both the Principal and Deputy Principal have many years of expertise in this area and take a personal interest.
'Oxbridge' Preparation Programme
These are bespoke programmes that are tailored to meet the needs of the individual student. They vary in length from an afternoon to a full week. The programme details depend on the needs and interest of the student. Students have practice interview sessions with senior college tutors and academics from the University of Oxford. They can also work with current post-graduate students who provide up to date information about individual colleges and courses. A full range of supporting activates is organised such as dining in a college and visiting the Oxford Union.
Example Programme This 5-day programme was designed this year for a student who had applied to Hertford College, Oxford. She was subsequently accepted.
University Entrance Tests
An increasing number of universities do not reply on A-level results alone to form the basis of undergraduate offers, but require students to sit additional entrance tests. Due to the large number of specialist academics we have access to, we are able offer preparation courses in the following entrance tests:
- STEP (Sixth Term Examination Preparation)
- AEA (Advanced Extension Awards)
- HAT (History Aptitude Test)
- PAT (Physics Aptitude Test)
- LNAT (Law National Admissions Test)
- TSA (Thinking Skills Assessment-Oxford)
- BMAT (Bio Medical Admissions Test)
- UKCAT (Clinical Aptitude Test)
- Imperial College Test for Engineering
- SAT (Standardised Aptitude Test)
- ELAT (English Literature Admissions Test)
Interview Practice
The College has a number of very experienced staff, including academics from the University of Oxford, who are able to offer a realistic interview experience whether it be for entry to boarding school or to Oxbridge. Students are given coaching and detailed feedback after each session.
“Both of us are very happy that Robertas has been invited for an interview and
underwent
a very useful highly professional coaching at your college.
My deepest gratitude for it and your kind care in general.”
Mrs N. Grigaliunas
