Who Can Enrol?

Most of our students are aged between 17 and 21 years, but GCSE students may enrol from age 15 upwards. As our services are highly personalised, we can support all academic abilities.

Many pupils transfer to OIC from other schools. This can be for a variety of reasons, such as:

Student requires a more modern and independent environment to the traditional school setting

Student is an academic ‘high-flyer’ and is not being sufficiently stretched and challenged, and is being held back by less able peers

Student is struggling academically and requires more personal care and attention that 1-2-1 tuition offers

Student struggles with self-discipline and is under-achieving academically, and needs more direct attention and supervision from individual tutors

Student is under-confident in larger groups which tend to be dominated by more extrovert pupils

Student is experiencing difficulties such as bullying, health problems or social isolation

Student’s school is closing

As OIC is a registered examination centre for all GCSE and A-level boards, students transferring to OIC from other schools can continue studying the same subjects under the same exam board, minimising any disruption to their studies. Students may also transfer at any time of year.

The latter case above (school closure) can be extremely distressing and disruptive for students and their families. At OIC we are able to offer a ‘rescue plan’ in such cases whereby students can continue their original course of study without interruption. We will endeavour to provide a suitable programme with a similar fee structure to that of the closing school.
