Engineering Trip to Durham

Between 29-31 October, our engineering students went on their Enrichment Week trip to the Engineering Department at the University of Durham.

Enrichment Week is often the most exciting and inspiring week of the term. The college organises a variety of trips, workshops, and practical training to have a taste of each student’s career choice.

The Durham trip was an extremely unique opportunity for our engineers. They were able to attend tailor-made lectures, seminars, laboratory sessions, and workshops led by this highly respected Russell Group university staff. This included a deeply fascinating talk by Richard Annis on ‘The archaeological applications to Engineering’, as well as a practical lab session on renewable energy led by Dr Iddo Amit, Assistant Professor in Electronic Engineering.

However, the trip was not exclusively for engineers. One of our students, Tiffany, is interested in a business management degree from Durham. For her benefit, our staff were able to liaise with the Business School, where she met academics, attended a seminar and had a tour of the department.

With smiles as big as we can see from the group photo, we have no doubt it was an excellent trip!

OIC provides tailor-made opportunities for each of our students to reach their full potential. See more on our syllabus here.
