Sherine Shortlisted for John Locke Prize

We are delighted to celebrate Sherine’s achievement in being shortlisted for the John Locke Institute 2026 Global Essay Prize, an international competition that challenges students to explore complex questions through independent research, critical thinking and academic writing.
Sherine was shortlisted in the Economics category, placing her essay among a highly competitive international field of entries.
From Essay to Awards Ceremony
Following her success, Sherine was invited to attend the Global Essay Prize Academic Conference and Awards Dinner, held in London from 2–4 October.
The programme brought together shortlisted students for academic sessions before culminating in the Senior Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner at Grosvenor House on 3 October.
Being invited to attend offered Sherine the opportunity not only to celebrate her achievement, but also to meet other ambitious students and engage with ideas beyond the classroom.
Developing Skills Beyond A-Levels
Competitions such as the John Locke Global Essay Prize encourage students to take their academic interests further, developing the ability to research independently, construct a persuasive argument and engage critically with challenging ideas.
These are skills that extend well beyond an individual competition and are particularly valuable as students prepare for university study and future academic opportunities.
Congratulations to Sherine on an excellent achievement and on representing OIC at this year's Global Essay Prize events in London.
