At OIC, we are regularly inspected to make sure we meet the UK’s rigorous education and welfare standards. Inspections are conducted by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) and Ofsted, the UK government Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills.

INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS INSPECTORATE

The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is an organisation officially approved by the Secretary of State for Education. ISI is responsible for inspecting over 1,200 independent schools in England, educating more than half a million students. ISI ensures that these schools meet the required standards set by the government and reports its findings to the Secretary of State for Education, helping maintain high educational and welfare standards across the sector.

OFSTED

Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education, inspects schools across the UK to ensure they meet the government standards in both academics and boarding. This includes evaluating the quality of education and the care provided to boarding students, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all learners.

The Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) is the leading voice in education for boarding schools based in the UK and across the world. They represent member boarding schools, provides training for boarding staff and promotes boarding education. Their mission is to support excellence in boarding, safeguarding, inclusion and health education.

The Society of Heads is a welcoming, collegiate and supportive community of independent schools who evolve their approach to learning by sharing ideas and experiences. Independent Schools Council

The Independent Schools Council brings together seven associations of independent schools, their heads, bursars and governors. Through our member associations we represent over 1,400 independent schools in the UK and overseas.

AEGIS, the Association for the Education & Guardianship of International Students, is the only independent, accrediting body in the UK for guardianship organisations and offers a robust, well-established inspection process. They offer guidance and relevant training to those guardianship organisations seeking accreditation and re-accreditation.

AGBIS

AGBIS supports and advises governing bodies of schools in the independent sector on all aspects of governance, under the umbrella of the Independent Schools Council. The objectives of the Association are the advancement of education in independent schools and the promotion of good governance in such schools.
