Shortlisted for the John Locke Essay Prize

The Global Essay Prize challenges students from around the world to explore complex questions beyond the school curriculum and develop a carefully reasoned, persuasive argument. Entries are assessed by senior academics from leading universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Princeton and Stanford.

To enter, students select one of the questions within their chosen subject category and submit an essay of up to 2,000 words. Essays are judged on their knowledge and understanding, use of evidence, quality of argument, originality, structure, writing style and persuasive force.

Being shortlisted means the essay has been selected as one of the strongest entries and is in contention for a prize. Shortlisted students are invited to the Institute's academic conference and awards dinner in London, where the final prize winners will be announced.
