William Partridge

Head of Chemistry
Will Partridge

William’s scientific background covers a wide range of academic expertise and research experience. Chemistry was always William’s favourite subject at school – a spark that led him to the University of Oxford, where he completed an undergraduate master’s degree in chemistry. As part of his master’s research project, William published original research on optical trapping, a technique that involves using laser beams to move microscopic particles.

As a teacher, he transmits this same passion for the subject to his students by using real-world examples that bring lessons to life. With ample experience teaching at a variety of British schools and online, William harnesses the best of both worlds, embracing technology as a study tool to enhance classroom learning.

Since joining the OIC faculty in 2024, William also leads the GCSE Fantasy Football Club. In addition to his scientific background, William is a qualified cricket and football coach. He enjoys watching Oxford United, following cricket and reading 1920s crime fiction in his spare time.

William believes that motivation is key to success, which is why he encourages his students to “pursue what you find interesting”.
