The British Biology Olympiad is one of the most challenging science competitions in the UK, designed to test students on their problem-solving abilities, biological knowledge, and practical skills. It attracts thousands of entries from top-performing students across the country, making this year’s results a phenomenal achievement for our school.
Only the top 5% of students receive the coveted Gold Award, and among them, those who meet the age and availability criteria are invited to sit an additional paper for selection in the British team for the International Biology Olympiad (IBO). We are excited to announce that Robert Jeffreys will be working with our Gold medalists later this week as they prepare for this prestigious next stage!

The Impact of Passionate Teaching
The outstanding performance of our students reflects the exceptional teaching and mentorship provided by our dedicated Biology Department. Their enthusiasm, expertise, and encouragement have inspired students to explore beyond the curriculum, take on new academic challenges, and excel in high-level competitions like the BBO.
The success of our Year 12 cohort this year is particularly impressive, as many of them competed against older Year 13 students and still achieved remarkable results. Their performance highlights their strong foundation in Biology and their ability to think critically under pressure.
Looking Ahead – Competing for the British Team at the IBO
For our Gold winners, this is just the beginning! Those eligible will now sit an additional selection paper to compete for a place on the British team for the International Biology Olympiad (IBO)—a global competition that brings together the best young biologists from around the world. We wish them the best of luck as they take on this incredible opportunity!
Certificates and Awards
To honour these fantastic achievements, we will be printing and distributing certificates and awards shortly!
Congratulations to All!
We are immensely proud of every student who participated in the British Biology Olympiad 2025. Your commitment to academic excellence and scientific discovery is truly inspiring. Keep pushing boundaries, exploring new ideas, and challenging yourselves—you are the future of science!
