SuperCurricular = SuperPower

SuperCurricular = SuperPower - SuperPower
At OIC, this sits at the heart of our Global Strategic Pathways
In the world of competitive university admissions, Supercurricular activities — those that extend learning beyond the classroom — are a student’s true differentiator. Reading academic journals, entering competitions, attending lectures, or pursuing independent research are more than résumé builders; they are proof of authentic passion.
In the competitive world of Oxbridge admissions, academic grades alone are no longer enough. What truly sets applicants apart is their engagement beyond the classroom—what educators call “Supercurricular” activity. At Oxford International College (OIC), we believe Supercurricular experiences are a student’s superpower.

Supercurricular go beyond traditional extracurricular activities. While extracurricular activities showcase general interests, Supercurricular engagement highlight a student’s intellectual curiosity and commitment to learning. Reading research papers, attending academic conferences, entering competitions, or conducting small-scale research projects—these are the experiences that reveal genuine enthusiasm for a subject.

At OIC, our Global Strategic Pathways framework ensures every student’s Supercurricular journey is purposeful. From the first term of Year 12, students choose from subject-specific pathways that link A Level study with real-world challenges. Whether through debating global policy, conducting science research, or leading environmental projects, they are encouraged to apply classroom theory to meaningful contexts.

This early integration is key. Students develop portfolios that not only strengthen personal statements but also give them talking points for Oxbridge interviews. Our timetabled electives programme offers structured time to explore interests in depth, supported by mentors who guide further reading and competition preparation.

Supercurricular activity also nurtures essential skills for lifelong success—critical thinking, leadership, resilience, and communication. It helps students see learning as a living process, not a checklist. They learn to connect ideas across disciplines and express how their intellectual passions shape their worldview.

For OIC students, Supercurricular is not just resume highlights—they are stepping stones to self-discovery and intellectual maturity. They embody our vision of developing pioneers who think deeply, act purposefully, and engage with the world with curiosity and compassion.

In every sense, Supercurricular engagement turns potential into power—and power into progress.

Futures, Engineered.
