This week we are preparing for an exciting week of learning, discovery and new experiences as OIC Amplify Week returns, giving students the opportunity to explore their interests, develop new skills and strengthen their future university applications. Taking place from 24–31 October, OIC Amplify Week offers students the chance to step beyond their usual academic timetable and take part in a range of activities designed to encourage curiosity, creativity and personal development. From exploring potential career pathways to developing skills beyond their A Level subjects, the week is an opportunity for students to discover new interests and build experiences that support their future ambitions.
Amplify Week: Beyond the Classroom

Going Beyond Academic Excellence
At OIC, preparing students for university is about more than achieving outstanding grades. Competitive university applications benefit from students demonstrating genuine enthusiasm for their chosen subjects, independent thinking and a commitment to exploring their interests beyond the curriculum.
Amplify Week supports this through supercurricular experiences, helping students develop a deeper understanding of their academic interests and how these connect to future study and careers.
This year's programme includes opportunities such as an Engineering and Computer Science course with Study Mind, a BioGrad trip to Liverpool and hands-on activities including Meccano building, encouraging students to apply their knowledge, develop practical skills and explore new areas of interest.
Supporting Our Global Strategic Pathways
Amplify Week complements OIC's four Global Strategic Pathways, providing opportunities aligned with students' university ambitions:
- Clinical & Life Sciences: Exploring Medicine, Biomedical Sciences and related healthcare fields.
- Physical & Applied Sciences: Developing scientific thinking, problem-solving and engineering skills.
- Social & Commerce Sciences: Exploring Economics, Law, Business and Politics.
- Computational & Data Sciences: Building interests in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and technology.
By connecting learning with future academic and professional possibilities, Amplify Week encourages students to explore their interests and make informed decisions about their next steps.
Building Skills for the Future
Beyond supporting university applications, Amplify Week provides opportunities to develop transferable skills such as communication, collaboration, leadership, creativity and problem-solving.
These experiences can also contribute to students' wider academic portfolios, giving them meaningful opportunities to demonstrate initiative, reflect on their interests and strengthen their preparation for competitive university courses.
Learning, Exploring and Having Fun
Amplify Week isn't just about academic enrichment. It's also an opportunity for students to have fun, build friendships and enjoy new experiences outside the classroom.
Alongside the academic programme, students can look forward to a range of activities, including a trip to Thorpe Park, visits to an animal sanctuary, crazy golf and Halloween-themed celebrations, from pumpkin carving to cake making and a Halloween event.
These activities provide a welcome opportunity to relax, connect with friends and enjoy everything that life at OIC has to offer.
With a programme combining academic exploration, practical experiences and plenty of fun, OIC Amplify Week promises to be an exciting opportunity for students to discover new interests, challenge themselves and make lasting memories.
