Eight Boards, One Opponent: OIC’s Chess Challenge

Students from Years 11, 12 and 13 gathered to face Dr Jeffreys, with each playing their own individual match while he moved between all eight boards simultaneously.

The challenge lasted around 90 minutes, with seven of the eight games still in play as it approached the hour-and-a-half mark. With both boys and girls taking part, the event brought together students from across the College, and the matches remained closely contested throughout.

By the end of the challenge, three Year 12 students had secured victories, while a Year 13 student earned a draw against Dr Jeffreys.

It was a great opportunity for students to put their strategic thinking and concentration to the test, while enjoying some friendly competition outside of the classroom.
