Mona Chaudhury

Mona brings an extensive background in chemical engineering. As a former researcher at the National University of Singapore, Mona’s findings have been published in academic journals and forums such as the Journal of Membrane Science, Journal of The Institution of Engineers and the International Membrane Science and Technology Conference. Examples of her research include “Ultrapure Water Quality and Production for Industrial Uses” and “Removal of Dissolved Oxygen in Ultrapure Water Production using Microporous Membrane Modules”.

With over 20 years of teaching experience across prestigious schools and colleges in Wales and England, Mona is committed to helping every student reach their full potential. Her teaching methods focus on fostering a deep understanding of science by adapting to each student’s individual needs and cultivating an environment where they can thrive. Mona is also an experienced A-level Chemistry examiner, marking for various exam boards since 2010.

Since joining the OIC faculty in 2019, Mona can often be found contributing to various aspects of College life, including trips, events and the music ensemble.

Mona holds a MEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering (Wales); MEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering (NUS, Singapore); PhD in Chemical Engineering (England); PGCE Science (Secondary – Chemistry) (Wales); and MA Leadership and Management (FE) (Wales).

Mona’s hobbies include science fiction, music and learning languages, which she enjoys despite the challenges. In fact, Mona encourages her students to welcome challenges as opportunities for growth. In her words, “Learning doesn’t stop; it is a continuous process. The key is to remain open-minded. Never be afraid to make mistakes.”
