Day 2 was the turn of the Supercurricular Team. Students enjoyed an engaging and insightful introduction to the department from Director of Supercurricular, Jason Brooks. Set in the prestigious building at Keble College, Jason, one of our most dynamic, experienced and long serving members of staff here at OIC, shared the many opportunities and very real advantages to participating in Supercurricular pursuits, exploring your passions beyond the classroom.
He commented, " It is always a pleasure to support students on their journey to university. Our College is a unique and special place and at its heart, is our students, who demonstrate an extraordinary range of creative talent, and bold thinking. As a team we look forward to finding ways to support them on their strategic journey to a top university destination as we move through this academic year. The start of a new academic year is always full of promise, aspirations, and vitality and this year was no different."
The Supercurricular offering at Oxford International College equips students for future success by deepening subject knowledge. By engaging in diverse programmes, competitions and awards as well as clubs and societies this ensures that all students are provided with hands-on experience through workshops, work shadowing and internships.
We are hugely grateful to our education partners who joined us on the day: Andy Russell from BioGrad Education who introduced students to their bespoke work experience offerings and their Science, Medicine, Computer Science, Finance & Engineering residentials for the 2024/25 academic year, together with Melanie Moorhouse from The University Guys.
In the afternoon, students were introduced to an array academic competitions including our extremely successful Rocketry Club lead, STEAM Champion and MIT Link, Vijay Chhaya who led last year's club all the the way to the UK Rocketry National Finals!
Students ended their Supercurricular day with an engaging educational visit to the Pitt Rivers Museum enjoying the archaeological and anthropological collections of the University of Oxford.
