OIC students dive into the future with Inspirit AI Program sharing a strong foundation in AI and a deeper understanding of its potential to change the world.
Our Mathematicians and Computer Science students enjoyed an incredible opportunity during Enrichment Week exploring the world of artificial intelligence through the Inspirit AI program. Developed by Stanford and MIT graduates, Inspirit AI provided a hands-on, interdisciplinary experience that ran from Monday, October 28, to Thursday, October 31, with full-day sessions. Students completed over 32 hours of immersive AI learning, building both their academic portfolios and enhancing their personal statements for future university applications.
Throughout the program, students delved into foundational AI concepts, including Python programming and applications in natural language processing, computer vision, and deep learning. But it wasn’t just about technical skills; Inspirit AI introduced students to the ethical considerations surrounding AI, encouraging them to think critically about the role technology plays in society. Under the guidance of Stanford and MIT graduate instructors, participants worked on projects across fields like healthcare, finance, and astronomy, gaining firsthand experience with real-world applications of AI.
The Impact of Inspirit AI
Project-based learning was central to Inspirit AI. Students worked on projects that addressed important issues, like building models to predict mental health trends, analyzing stock sentiment, and detecting exoplanets. These projects showcased students' technical abilities and demonstrated their desire to use AI for positive impact—qualities that universities look for.
Students who completed the Inspirit AI program left with a strong foundation in AI and a deeper understanding of its potential to change the world. Those who participated are now better prepared for future studies and careers in AI, armed with skills and experiences that will set them apart in university applications and beyond.
