Silver DofE Milestone Achieved

Students Complete Silver DofE Expedition Section - Silver DofE Milestone Achieved
Students at Oxford International College have successfully completed the expedition section of their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), marking an important milestone in one of the UK’s most respected enrichment and personal development programmes.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a nationally recognised programme designed to help young people develop confidence, resilience, independence, and leadership through a combination of volunteering, physical activity, skills development, and expedition challenges. These experiences form an important part of a student’s wider super-curricular profile and are highly valued by universities and employers alike.

This year’s cohort was made up primarily of Year 11 students, alongside several students from Year 12, all of whom are progressing through the different levels of the award. While students do not usually receive medals, successful completion of all sections of the programme leads to the award of an official DofE certificate and badge.

The recent expedition section required students to demonstrate teamwork, navigation, endurance, and problem-solving in a challenging outdoor environment. Completing this component represents a significant achievement and reflects the determination and perseverance shown by the students throughout the process.

Although the expedition section has now been completed, students will continue working towards the remaining elements of the Silver Award, including volunteering, physical activity, and skills-based activities, before their full submissions can be approved.

Oxford International College is proud to support students in pursuing opportunities beyond the classroom that encourage personal growth, leadership, and character development alongside academic excellence. The DofE programme continues to play an important role in helping students build the confidence and wider experiences that will support them in university applications and future careers.
