Social Impact Award Distinction

This achievement marks an exciting moment in OIC's journey. More than an award, it reflects a growing culture shift across our community – one that champions future readiness, social awareness and meaningful action. As we prepare students for success in an increasingly interconnected world, we are also empowering them to become compassionate leaders who understand their responsibility to make a positive difference.

The distinction has been spearheaded by our dedicated Outreach Lead, Jenny Bourlakis, whose passion, vision and determination have driven the initiative forward. Working alongside colleagues across the College and Nord Anglia, together with student leaders, Jenny has helped embed opportunities for students to engage with social impact projects, global issues and community partnerships that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

While Jenny's leadership has been instrumental, this achievement belongs to the entire OIC community. From staff who have embraced new opportunities for learning and discussion, to students who have enthusiastically engaged with social impact initiatives, assemblies, fundraising activities and community partnerships, every contribution has played a role in reaching this milestone.

The accreditation process highlighted OIC's growing commitment to empowering student voice, strengthening community partnerships and increasing awareness of global challenges. It also recognised the College's ambition to create opportunities for students to take meaningful action locally and globally, building the skills, empathy and understanding needed for the future.

As a College renowned for academic excellence, OIC believes that preparing students for the future means developing not only exceptional scholars, but also responsible global citizens. This recognition demonstrates that our community is embracing that vision and working together to create lasting impact.

The Bronze Award is an important first step, and we are excited about what comes next. With new partnerships, student-led initiatives and ambitious plans already underway, (with a whole programme of post exam activities ready to go) we look forward to continuing our social impact journey and building an even stronger culture of awareness, action and service.

Together, we are creating a community that not only achieves excellence, but uses that excellence to make a difference.
