US University Life at OIC

The visit followed an exciting weekend for Dr Kirsten Dickers, Director of University Admissions & Careers, who was invited by Arizona State University (ASU) to attend the inaugural Union Jack Classic at Wembley Stadium.

The event brought the atmosphere of American college sport to London, with the Arizona State Sun Devils taking on the Kansas Jayhawks. Complete with marching bands, cheerleaders, fireworks and a half-time show, it offered a glimpse into an important part of student culture at many US universities.

While at the event, Dr Dickers had the opportunity to connect with senior admissions representatives from the US and ASU’s London campus, including Bobbe Fernando, Senior Director of International Recruitment at Arizona State University.

From Wembley to OIC

Following their meeting, Dr Dickers invited Bobbe to visit OIC and speak directly with our students.

During her visit, Bobbe introduced students to the different style of education and university experience in the United States, while sharing more about Arizona State University and its focus on areas including innovation and sustainability.

The session also gave students the opportunity to ask questions and explore what studying in the US could look like for them. Bobbe was particularly impressed by the students’ engagement and the thoughtful questions they brought to the conversation.

Visits like this form an important part of university preparation at OIC, connecting students directly with universities from around the world and helping them understand the different pathways available as they consider their next steps.

For our internationally minded students, it was another opportunity to look beyond borders, ask questions and discover where their ambitions could take them.
