Welcoming the Year of the Dragon

OIC celebrate Lunar New Year

Staff and students are looking forward to welcoming in the auspicious Year of the Dragon, with a special celebratory menu from the OIC Catering team and beautiful 紅包, hóngbāo (red envelopes) from our fantastic Student Services department, bringing good fortune and exciting new opportunities!

Excitement has been building in the corridors of Oxford International College as the Lunar New Year decorations transform the college. Staff and students have been looking forward to welcoming the new year and the Year of the Dragon, bringing with it good fortune and exciting new opportunities!

The dining hall featured a special menu with traditional dishes symbolizing prosperity and good fortune, allowing everyone to join in the festivities.

Red envelops or hóngbāo were handed out to students as gifts promoting luck (for the red colour), life and happiness with the custom of giving red envelops originating from some of the oldest stories of Chinese New Year!
