Preparing For Success

News Detail - Biology Field Trip
OIC AS Biology Field Trip to Juniper Hall
The OIC AS Biology Field Trip team, had a fantastic time at The Field Studies Council, Juniper Hall over the weekend.
Situated in an unspoilt area of the chalk North Downs and at the edge of Box Hill, Surrey, 63 OIC students took part in sampling various habitats, mammal trapping, estimating population sizes of pond snails with snail varnish for the capture, mark, release and recapture method.

Being in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with many amazing rivers, deciduous woodlands and grasslands to be found, students were able to
to perform kick sampling in the river for biodiversity.

Residential experiences provide time and opportunity to study areas in greater breadth, integrating classroom and real world knowledge across a number of curriculum subjects. With this it providing excellent opportunity for A2 Biology preparation and vital to a practical pass at A level.

Huge thanks to OIC Biology Lead, Su McRae for orgainsing the trip and to her team of volunteers for their support.
