On Tuesday 29 April, Oxford International College proudly celebrated the graduating Class of 2025 with a stunning ceremony held in the magnificent Oxford Town Hall. Under bright spring skies, students dressed in formal gowns and sashes made their way through the heart of Oxford, walking together as a community toward a day that marked the culmination of years of dedication, ambition, and growth.
As the doors of the Town Hall opened, guests were welcomed by beautiful live music performed by the OIC Music Club. The hall quickly filled with proud families, friends, and staff, all gathered to honour this year's graduates. It was truly a packed house, buzzing with anticipation and pride.
The ceremony began with a heartfelt welcome from Principal Dr Sarah Watson, whose words set the perfect tone for a day filled with joy, reflection, and celebration. Musical interludes, including a moving rendition of Romanza Andaluza by Isaac and Pegeen, and a performance by Glee Club vocalist Tansy, added to the uplifting atmosphere.
A highlight of the day was the keynote address by Lord Jim Knight, renowned education leader and member of the House of Lords. Drawing on his extensive career in public service and educational innovation, Lord Knight shared insights and encouragement with students preparing to embark on new adventures.
Throughout the ceremony, awards and certificates were presented by members of the College's leadership and board of governors. From Academic Excellence to Community Engagement, and from subject-specific achievements to peer-voted honours, the awards reflected the rich diversity and talent within the Class of 2025. Students such as Yunye, Aye Chan, Xinchen, and Tanishka were among those recognised for outstanding accomplishments.
The Head Boy and Head Girl delivered touching speeches, capturing the memories, challenges, and growth of their peers. The ceremony closed with final remarks by Mr Toby Blundell, Head of Sixth Form and University Admissions, who offered warm congratulations and encouragement for the road ahead.
After the formalities, students gathered on stage for the traditional cap throw, capturing a spectacular group photo that perfectly embodied the spirit of the day: pride, joy, unity, and hope.
As we reflect on this incredible event, we invite you—our wider community—to think back to your own graduation day. Remember the anticipation, the pride, and the promise of new beginnings? For our Year 13 students, this moment was just as significant. It was a celebration not only of academic achievement but also of personal growth, friendship, and transformation. We hope their joy resonates with you and rekindles memories of your own journey.
Graduation may mark the end of a chapter, but it also signals the beginning of a lifelong connection to the OIC community. We are immensely proud of our graduates and excited to follow their journeys in the years to come.
Once OIC, always OIC.
