Dr Watson Inspires Students to Embrace the Future of Work
Discover how our new principal kicked off 2025 with an inspiring assembly, encouraging students to build essential 21st-century skills like problem-solving, self-management, teamwork, and tech fluency. Learn why character building and understanding the future of work are key to student success in a changing world.

The first day back after the Christmas break is always special, but this year it was even more so, as students were warmly greeted by our new Principal in a dynamic and thought-provoking assembly. The event not only marked the beginning of a new term but also set an inspiring tone for what promises to be a transformative year ahead.

Reflecting on Skills for the Future
The assembly highlighted the importance of self-reflection and growth, urging students to think beyond traditional academic success. The principal posed a powerful question to students:

Do you have the range of skills that employers are looking for?
In today’s fast-paced world, young people need more than just qualifications. Skills such as problem-solving, self-management, technological fluency, and team collaboration are essential to thrive in the evolving job market.

Preparing for the Future of Work
The principal also touched on the increasing role of technology in the workplace, emphasizing the need for students to understand the shifting dynamics between human and machine labor.
“Are you aware of how the division of labor between humans and machines is reshaping job demands?” they asked, encouraging students to think critically about their future roles in a technology-driven world.

Building Character Alongside Qualifications
In addition to skill development, the assembly placed a strong emphasis on character building. Students were reminded that adaptability, resilience, and innovation are as crucial as academic achievements in navigating life’s challenges.

A Call to Action for 2025
As the assembly concluded, the principal left students with a motivational challenge:
“This year, strive to be your best self. Build not just your qualifications but your character. Embrace every opportunity to learn, grow, and prepare for the future.”

Here’s to a successful term ahead!  It’s clear that 2025 will be a year of growth and opportunity for the entire school community.
