Supporting Every Student

Starting at a new school, preparing for university, managing academic pressures or simply navigating day-to-day life can be both exciting and challenging. At Oxford International College, students have access to a specialist team whose priority is to support their wellbeing, personal development and individual learning needs.

Our Counselling Team

Led by Meryl Suissa, Head of the Counselling Service, our counselling team provides a confidential, compassionate space where students can speak openly about whatever is on their mind. Whether students are experiencing stress, anxiety, homesickness, relationship difficulties or simply need someone to talk to, support is always available.

Alongside Meryl, Sarah Outen and Darren Bagheri work closely with students, offering professional, person-centred counselling that helps them develop resilience, build confidence and maintain positive mental wellbeing. The team also works collaboratively with staff, parents and external specialists where appropriate, ensuring every student receives the support they need.

Our SENCO Team

Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision is led by Ebony Lambright, Head of SENCO, alongside Katie Vingoe, SENCO.

Together, they provide personalised support for students with a wide range of learning differences and additional educational needs. From creating tailored learning strategies and coordinating classroom support to helping students develop confidence in their own learning, the team ensures every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Working closely with teachers, boarding staff, parents and students, the SENCO team helps create an inclusive learning environment where individual strengths are recognised and celebrated.

Working Together

While each team has its own area of expertise, the Counselling and SENCO teams work closely together as part of OIC's wider pastoral network. By combining academic support, emotional wellbeing and personalised guidance, they help students feel safe, supported and able to flourish both inside and outside the classroom.
