A New Chapter Begins

The start of term is always a special moment for our College community. Over the past week, London Place and our boarding houses have been full of activity, with arrivals from across the globe, families joining us on campus and new friendships already beginning to form.

For many, Arrivals Weekend marked their first experience of living and studying in Oxford. Moving into Wavy Gate and Alice House, meeting boarding teams and getting to know new housemates were the first steps in making Oxford feel like home. For those returning, it was a welcome opportunity to reconnect with friends after the summer.

A Warm Welcome

Induction provided an introduction to both academic and everyday life at the College. Principal Dr Sarah Watson and members of the Senior Leadership Team shared expectations for the year ahead and highlighted the opportunities and support available.

Guidance from the police and healthcare professionals also offered practical advice on staying safe, healthy and supported while living in Oxford.

The focus extended beyond academic achievement, with everyone encouraged to consider the person they want to become, the impression they want to make and the legacy they hope to leave. The House System was also introduced, creating another important sense of belonging and connection across the community.

Welcoming Our Parents and Families

We were delighted to welcome parents and families to our Parents’ Welcome event, where they had the opportunity to meet Expert Teachers, the Principal, Vice Principals, members of the Senior Leadership Team and other staff.

The evening provided a chance to learn more about the academic and pastoral support available, while beginning the important partnership between home and College.

In just a few days, new introductions have become friendships, familiar faces have reunited and our community has come together once again.
