A Taste of the World at OIC

One of the best ways to discover a new culture is through its food, and our recent Cooking & Tasting Activity gave students the opportunity to do exactly that.
The evening brought together flavours and traditions from across the globe, with students preparing and sharing dishes that represented different countries and cultures within our community.

The menu included Jamaican patties, Kazakh omelettes, Taiwanese stewed pork, British baked beans and, for something sweet, Brazilian brigadeiro.
More than simply a chance to try something new, the activity encouraged students to share a little of their own cultures with friends. Around the table, conversations flowed as everyone discovered new flavours, compared favourites and learnt more about the traditions behind the food.

And no OIC evening would be complete without some entertainment. Students Albert and Sylvie stepped up as resident DJs, providing the soundtrack for the evening and keeping the atmosphere going throughout.

With students joining OIC from countries around the world, moments like these are an important part of College life. They create opportunities to celebrate different perspectives, form new connections and build a community where everyone can share something of home.
