HeadStart: Starting the Year Already Ahead

HeadStart Starting the Year Already Ahead - HeadStart Starting the Year Already Ahead
Before the academic year began, Year 11 and Year 12 students came together for HeadStart – two weeks designed to build confidence, curiosity and connections before the first day of term.
HeadStart is much more than an introduction to the year ahead. The programme gives students an early opportunity to settle into their new environment, form friendships and begin developing the academic and personal skills that will support their future ambitions.

Built around Exceptional Experiences, Pioneering Projects, Compassionate Collaborations and Tenacious Challenges, the programme combines academic exploration with real-world learning, community experiences and opportunities to try something new.

From exploring research through Fusion and challenging how we know whether information is reliable, to bushcraft and community outreach, students were encouraged to think independently, collaborate and approach unfamiliar challenges with confidence.

Just as importantly, HeadStart provided time to settle in, get to know new friends and become familiar with life in Oxford. Social and boarding activities helped create an early sense of belonging before lessons began.

By the start of term, friendships had formed, confidence had grown and students were ready to take on their next challenge.
Not just ready for the year ahead. Already ahead.
